Antique Art Nouveau Lady Thermometer Bronze?

We purchased this gorgeous antique piece at an estate auction and it is just fabulous! It stands 9 1/2" high and I think it is made of bronze, could be brass, but a magnet does not stick, and the patina is wonderful. We removed the thermometer to replace the glass mercury piece and we found a number impressed behind the plate (see photo). The plate with the numbers is quite worn and it has on the right side a B and left side an F in fancy script. The letters are R & F, which was the Reaumur & Fahrenheit temperature scales that were originally being displayed. We replaced the mercury thermometer with an old glass one we had. The cotter pins that hold this in place is a little loose but I think it is in fantastic condition and very old. This is a superb example of Art Nouveau and a real find for a collector! (this is quite heavy). ID=ANTQ1

Northwood Intaglio Ivory Custard Berry Bowl

Northwood Intaglio Ivory Custard Glass Individual Berry Bowl
With Green & Gold Trim circa 1899.

In 1897, the Harry Northwood Glass Company of Indiana, Pennsylvania (which later moved to Wheeling, West Virginia) introduced ivory custard glass with its hugely successful Louis XV pattern, and followed through in 1899 with swift introductions of the now-classic Intaglio, Geneva, Inverted Fan & Feather, and Pagoda patterns in custard glass (from Harry Northwood: The Wheeling Years 1901-1925, Antique Publications: Marietta, OH, 1991, p. 132).

This is a wonderful example of the Northwood Intaglio Green & Gold berry bowl. The berry bowl, often called a "sauce bowl" is approximately 3" high x 4.5" wide. ID=ANTQ3

Victorian Vintage Jeweled Rhinestone Calling Card Case

This wonderful little box / case is done in beautifully engraved , repousse brass filigree accented with montana blue rhinestones and jewels. It is in excellent condition with a lovely patina and measures 3" x 2" and 3/8" deep.

This little case is unmarked but looks to be Czech or possibly German in origin. It would be a very elegant and stylish accessory for a lady wishing to carry business cards or other small items in her purse. This piece would also look great on a vanity with a collection of other powder jars, jewelry / trinket boxes, snuff boxes or pill boxes. This is very detailed and nicely made piece. ID-ANTQ4

APOLLO Studios Vintage Ornate Jeweled Amber Glass Fan Vase, Exceptional!

Exceptional vintage fan shaped, amber colored vase which sits in a beautifully designed gold toned reticulated and jeweled base. This ornate vase with its multi-colored and faceted jewels is quite a special vintage piece.

This vase was made by Apollo Studios in New York a contemporary of Tiffany Studios. They specialized in glass and jeweled vanity pieces. This piece dates to approximately 1920.
This vase is in great condition and the colored jewels are mounted with precision. (One of the tiniest jewels is missing and 1 is partially missing. ) But as I say, they are the tiniest and can only be noticed under very close examination.

This vase is quite intact for its age and is a product of exceptional design and quality. This vase measures 8 1/2 inches in height and the fan glass is 6 1/4 inches wide.
This grand piece has a "chalice" to it. The amber glass which is fan shaped is thick and has a very small chip very near the seams edge that is also not noticeable because of its placement. There is also some loss of the gold tone color in places which could be easily restored.
Apollo Studios items are rather rare especially one in this condition as not much information is available.
This Apollo Studios vase is marked on the bottom Apollo, Made in the USA, 2876. It is quite a pretty vase and boasts of the attention to detail in manufacturing from decades past! A gem! ID=antq2a

Vintage Art Deco Silver & Enamel Sugar Tongs

Antique Silver (plate?) and Enamel Mechanical Sugar Tong. This is unmarked so we are unsure of the maker, but this item was collected with numerous Norway pieces, so we think this may be from one of the great silver makers in Scandanavia/Norway.

It is in beautiful condition and features a length of 4 1/4" with a stunning blue enameled top and additionally enameled on the top of the middle plate. When you press the top, the 3 prongs of the tongs open allowing you to pick up and serve a sugar cube or other bar fruit or garnish. This lovely shaker measures just over 5 1/2" high and is in EXCELLENT CONDITION with no chips, cracks or cloudiness. The top, due to age, has lost the silver from polishing but has a lovely overall patina. The cranberry base has 12 panels and the color is beautiful. The top has no dents or dings and screws on and off easily. The opening under the top is slightly rough which is to be expected. Base along the bottom edge has two rough spots, nothing that detracts but best to mention. Top is marked EPNS as shown. An outstanding example of Victorian elegance! ID=ANTQ12

I think she is fairly old and she was used in our store as display after we got her from an estate auction years ago. She is 18" tall and 11" wide and really HEAVY. She seems to be made of some kind of metal ( after many questions I re-checked her). It makes a tin metal sound when you thump it. There is no hole in the bottom to tell what is inside her. But she weighs quite a bit.

She is more bronze in color than the lighter color the photos show too. I just love her face, she could be used in a Egyptian display but she is really a Art Nouveau period piece.

Since she is free standing she will work most anywhere in a store or even at home. She has lots of age in her color and is in very good gently aged condition. The raised name on her front it Atala. ID=ANTQ13

Antique Art Nouveau Bronze Spelter Lydia Bust Statue

The little statue is definitely Art Nouveau in style and dates to the 1900-1910s range. The piece is made from a white metal that is then painted to look like bronze. The statue depicts a beautiful young woman with her clothing draping off her shoulder. At the base it says Lydia, which I believe is a famous and often reproduced image going all the way back to Roman times. This is a Art Nouveau adaptation of the Lydia character. The statue measures about 6" tall and is in excellent condition with just some minor paint loss here and there. Very rare and really high quality – you have to see it in person to fully appreciate it. Guaranteed old and original! Although unsigned this was made by Emanuele Villanis in the first years of 1900. ID=ANTQ15
